Eric “adreN” Hoag, born 16 Apr, 1990, is a professional Counter-Strike: Global Offensive head coach from the United States, currently in charge of Mythic.
The player adreN
adreN was an active player during the period from 2009-2018 when he was known as one of the best players from North America of that era. Everyone who played against him knew how annoying it was facing him as an opponent.
During his time as a player, adreN was takings risks in the playing field and tried to achieve the impossible in times of crisis. Sometimes he would fail, but sometimes he would succeed and carry his team despite all the odds stacked against him and his team. That is what his teaching as a coach is about – aim higher than the sky.
adreN as a coach
The very same energy that adreN had during his playing career, is now being brought with him to help with his coaching job. He is actively trying to instill some of the fundamental principles into his players, hoping that they will build a solid foundation and grow as players and as individuals in years to come.
BIG dreams, BIG goals – never settle and never consider yourself permanently defeated. That is not just a recipe for success in Counter-Strike, but in life as well, according to adreN. The level of competition in modern esports is indeed crazy, but adreN brings it even one step higher.
Motivated by the biggest rivalries
It is no secret that the more successful the opponents are, the more adreN wants to crush them. That is why he always feels extra motivated when his team is facing opponents such as Astralis, as he has played against them several times. Resulting in one of the biggest rivalries that the esports scene has ever seen.
If adreN can maintain the same energy in the years to come, there are absolutely a lot of good things bound to happen in his coaching career, and all the fans of professional Counter-Strike are looking forward to that.
