What happened in DreamHack Masters Dallas 2019

The DreamHack Masters Dallas 2019, which was the third Intel Grand Slam event of 2019, attracted 16 of the best teams worldwide and one of the most electrifying crowd from Dallas, Texas. At this event, fans expected to see some exciting storylines, and plays from the teams, as they competed for the $250, 000 USD prize pool.

Liquid coming in as favorites

Liquid, the IEM Sydney 2019 champions, were looking forward to clinching yet another trophy in a row. Astralis, who were their main rivals at the time, did not attend this tournament.

In group A, Liquid began their campaign with a bang as they clinched the top spot after beating all their opponents. FaZe came in second, after losing their third-round match against Liquid.

Dominance in Group B

ENCE were the clear favorites in Group B. They displayed their dominance right from the get go, and ended at the top of their group. FURIA came in at a close second after losing their final game to ENCE. At the semifinals, both Liquid and ENCE showed their intent in reaching the grand final by thrashing their opponents, 2-0, respectively.

The Grand Final

Going into the finals, both teams were undeniably good. Emotions were rising, and the crowd expected a thrilling grand final match. ENCE started the match with consecutive round wins on the first map, Mirage. However, things would start going south for the Finns as Liquid improved their defense. On the second map, Overpass, ENCE didn’t hesitate to take advantage of Liquid’s shortcomings in this map. They won 19-17.

On the deciding map, Inferno, Liquid didn’t take long to find their rhythm again,, as they took an early 10-1 lead. They won 16-13, even after ENCE’s trial for a comeback.

The winners of DreamHack

Liquid took home their second trophy in a row and $100,000 USD in prize money, after displaying a solid performance throughout the tournament. EliGE bagged his first MVP award after averaging a 1+ rating in his 11 matches played at this event.
