Tournament format
Globally, the league consists of two regions: Europe and North/Latin America.
Each of the regions has its divisions, separated by the skill-level of the players involved in them:
- Mountain Dew League Division
- Advanced division
- Main division
- Intermediate division
- Open divisions
The way to qualify for the higher-ranked divisions is simple – by ranking high enough in the current one. The only division with no barrier to entry is Open division, where everyone is welcome to compete.
As regards the particular events, they consist of two stages – The Group stage and The Playoffs.
Group stage matches – each group has 4 teams, where opening and winner’s matches are played as a BO1, while elimination and decider matches are played as a BO3. The two highest-ranked teams go to the playoffs.
The playoffs are being played as single-elimination brackets. All the matches, without exception, are played as BO3.
Sometimes the organizer will test out new concepts and formats. Therefore always check the tournament page if you would like to study a specific tournament.Whats special about ESEA
