Flashpoint Season 1 Completed

Flashpoint Season 1

Mar 13, 2020Apr 19, 2020

Flashpoint is a new concept created in Counter-Strike this year and is founded by ten teams.

By letting the teams be a big part in the tournament, it gives room for new and unique things possible during the tournament. “What’s unique about this open ecosystem is that it allows for creativity,” said Kent Wakeford, co-founder and vice-chairman of Gen.G, about the Flashpoint concept.

Eight teams are permanently invited to play in the tournament while four extra teams can participate through qualifiers.

The prize pool is an astounding $1,000,000 USD, and the 12 teams will compete for this together with the Flashpoint trophy.

Besides the prize pool, the 8 permanently invited teams will also receive points for the BLAST Premier tournaments.

Highlighted players

We have selected five players that you should look out for in Flashpoint Season 1 - because they are on the rise or is the best players right now. Use the information with common sense and don't use our subjective assessment in games or betting if you do not agree.

There is no doubt about the level of FalleN and TACO from MIBR. When they are in a good period - they are some great and dangerous players who are fun to watch. Lately, MIBR has been in a bad period, but we hope and think Flashpoint could be their turning point.

f0rest is one of the most experienced players on the Counter-Strike scene. f0rest recently played for NiP, and this is the first tournament he is playing for the brand new team Dignitas! We except him and the other players on his new team to be hungry for results and show their talent.

One of the most exciting players at Flashpoint Season 1 will be sjuush. This young player has together with his team MAD Lions shown signs of a team able to beat the best in the world. And we expect him to be on point in this tournament.

The last player to look out for is TeSeS from Copenhagen Flames, which in our eyes is a rising star from Denmark. Being very new and young in the Counter-Strike scene, he has been showing promising performances lately.

Tournament format

Flashpoint is a little different from other tournaments because the teams will participate in two Group Stages, also called Phase 1 & 2. Every phase will give the teams in the group up to 75 points, which is used to proceed to the playoffs of the tournament.

Phase 1 & 2

  • Three double-elimination (GSL) format groups
  • Each group has four teams
  • All matches are Bo3
  • Points are awarded from the 4th place, (15 points) to the 1st (75 points)

  • Double-Elimination bracket
  • All matches are Bo3

The final is a BO3 match
