NAVI the team from Ukraine was the winner of the latest StarSeries & i-League Season 7 inShanghai, Mar 30, with a prize pool of a massive $500,000.

The final game between NAVI and fnatic (Sweden) ended in a blowout victory to NAVI 3-0, and secured the first place prize of $250,000.

The tournament was located in Shanghai and was represented locally by 3 teams and 11 players. TYLOO had home court advantage through the whole tournament, and ended as 12-14th place.

What happened in StarSeries & i-League Season 7

The StarSeries i-League Season 7, which took place in Shanghai, China, was one of the most captivating and entertaining competitions in 2019. 16 teams in total, consisting of eight of the best-ranked CS:GO teams and eight invited teams, were to compete to get a share of the $500,000 USD prize pool.

Favorites secures playoff spot!

In the nine-day event, teams needed to compete in the group stages, using the Swiss-System. The top 8 teams would proceed to the playoffs, and the bottom eight would face elimination. Both fnatic and Renegades clinched the first position in the group stage, while ENCE, NAVI, and Vitality, all were in the third position. Spirit landed two wins and failed to secure a spot in the playoffs even after considerable changes in their lineups.

The Playoffs begin

In the playoffs, fnatic faced North in a hotly contested match where they won 2-1, after beating them on the Inferno map, the match decider. They then faced NRG in the semifinals, where they beat them 2-0 to secure their grand final spot.

On the other side, NAVI’s journey to the final was not that easy, given the kind of opposition they would have to face to get there. They beat ENCE, 2-1, in the quarterfinals, and Renegades 2-1 in the semifinals to secure their final spot.

The Grand Final

The Grand final, which was a BO5 match, between fnatic and NAVI was quite nerve-wracking for the fans. fnatic gave their opponents a run for their money on all the three maps. Dominating fnatic on all 3 maps, NAVI remained at the top with s1mple and electronic, who pulled off some fascinating moves on several occasions.

The winners of Season 7

NAVI went on to win, 3-0, and take home their first trophy of 2019. s1mple, who was the best player in 2018, clinched his ninth MVP title. He was followed closely by electronic, who also performed extremely well at this event.
