NRG

California - USA - North America

NRG is a professional esports team from America, which started back in 2015 with its base in California.

This organization has teams placed in “probably” every existing esports out there – Clash Royale, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Fortnite, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Overwatch, Smite, Hearthstone, For Honor, Rocket League, and Vainglory.

Their CS:GO team was founded in 2016 and is owned by NBA franchise Sacramento Kings. At that time, celebrities like Shaquille O’Neal, Jimmy Rollins, and Alex Rodriguez had invested in NRG.

NRG best place in the world ranking is 3rd place.

The team began competing in 2018, taking part in StarSeries and i-League CS:GO Season 5 where they got beaten by team NaVi in the final round, losing an opportunity to capture their first championship.

Later that year, they ended up 4th in Esports Championship Series Season 5 – getting defeated by Team Liquid in a very interesting match.

Their first 1st place title came about after winning Intel Extreme Masters XIII Shangai where they eliminated all their competition before the finals, and then, as an icing to the cake, dominated Team TYLOO.

They followed their success by another 1st place, this time in CS_Summit 3 gaining victory over OpTic Gaming in the final round.

They went on to participate in their third straight finals in SuperNova Malta 2018, but they did not have enough luck as Team Liquid had no trouble defeating. The team had to go home bearing the 2nd place.

The turn of events came for them in Americas Minor Championship – Katowice 2019, where they defeated Team Furia to capture another title.

They faced tough opponents in the next couple of tournaments, ending them both as 4th.

ESL Pro League Season 9, where they got defeated by Team G2 Esports and Esports Championship Series Season 7 – where Team Vitality handed them the loss.

After that, they had a good comeback in Americas Minor Championship Berlin 2019 – where they defeated Team INTZ eSports in the final round.

The most recent tournament they took part in was StarLadder Berlin Major 2019, where they ended 4th by getting defeated by Team Astralis.

Even though this team has a lot of talent on their roster, they need to work on their consistency to become a true dominating force in an esports world.

Evil Geniuses acquires NRG Esports’ roster in 2019.
