Renegades

Australia/America

Renegades is a professional esports organization from Australia which started back in 2015 under the name “Misfits”.

They were originally League of Legends competitors, but after changing their name, they also changed their roster, switched to CS:GO and picked up some of the former Vox Eminor players.

In 2016, Jonas Jerebko bought the Renegades organization from Christopher “MonteCristo” Mykles. He is the third NBA player by far that is a part of an esports organization after Rick Fox (Echo Fox) and Shaquille O’Neal (NRG Esports).

The team best ranking in the world is in 5th place.

Their first big tournament was DreamHack Open Winter 2016, where they managed to get all the way to the finals, but came up short by losing to Gambit Esports.

In the early part of 2017, the team was able to capture their first title in Asia Minor Championship – Krakow by defeating Team TYLOO in the final round, after a thrilling match.

They then went on a nice streak of finals appearances, winning 4 titles out of 5 final rounds.

In Asia Minor Championship – Boston 2018 they faced the same opponents, Team TYLOO in the final battle of the tournament and the outcome was the same again – they won the title.

StarLadder i-League Invitational ended in the same fashion, as the team went on to dominate Team Virtus Pro in the final round.

They slowed down for a bit by losing to Team Cloud9 in iBUYPOWER Masters finals, sending them home with 2nd place.

After that, the success train started steaming again as they win another championship. In Asia Minor Championship London 2018 they went on to dominate in the final round, against an opponent they had known pretty well – Team TYLOO was not able to get their revenge as Renegades added yet another 1st place to their name.

They went on to win another title in Asia Minor Championship Katowice 2019 by defeating Grayhound Gaming in an intense match.

After the streak of success, they had a little bit of a rough patch, getting eliminated before the finals in the last three tournaments.

They ended up 8th in Intel Extreme Masters XIII Katowice Major – 2019, 4th in StarSeries and i-League CS:GO Season 7 and in StarLadder Berlin Major 2019.

They are preparing for a busy 2020, and if they work and repair their latest errors, they can find their way back to the top, where they certainly belong.
